Thanks for the mention Starbeast

I enjoyed your tale about the searching swordsman, good ending too Ratsy.

Thanks to springs, Kylara, Mouse and Starbeast for the mentions. :)

Excellent creepy tale with an unexpected ending for me Brev.

Thanks Starbeast for the mention and especially to amw for the vote.

You created quite an involving post-apocalyptical story, well done Alchemist.

Thanks to Perp, Starbeast, and Teresa for the short listings. :D

Very cool wandering warrior tale, battling the forces of great evil, a fun read Scott.

Thanks you alchemist! A longlisting made me smile, then seeing I was in your shortlist! Brilliant, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! (crazy grin on face)

Scott! I was thinking that was it for me. Thank you very much! :D

Someone snuck in another vote for me and without whipping back through the thread I can't work out who it was, so thank you very much a great way to help me get through the business accounts.

Thanks for the mention, Scott!

I've managed to come up with a short list, finally, and I know two of my votes, but the third one is more problematic. I'll have to think a little harder tonight. And check the mail to see if any chocolate has arrived from vote-seekers.

Alas, no chocolate yet -- I think the post office workers are in hog heaven!

I finally made myself come up with a third vote, so here's my collection:

DEO -- Our English Dead
DThenB -- "An Account of the Saint Uziel Riots..."
reiver33 -- Look Back in Anger
RCGrant -- The Age of the Innocents
*Brev -- The Hunter*
*Hex -- The Dream Factory*
Abernovo -- The Hunter and His Prey
Denise Tanaka -- Doubt
Joan Drake -- Mirage
crystal haven -- The Price of Success
rj dando -- My Little Big Sister
*jimness -- The Freeze*
mosaix -- And Finally...
stevietee -- Mother's Pride
paranoid marvin -- Sweet Revenge
alchemist -- Interesting Times

Thanks for the mention, TDZ.

I don't think I've ever had a harder time of choosing a shortlist, let alone picking three to get the vote. Some really excellent stories for this quarter. Well done everyone!

It seems invidious to name names, because so many only just failed to appear on my short list, but for what it's worth, here it is:

Boneman -- No... More Billy
Culhwch -- The Seed
David Evil Overlord -- Our English Dead
Glen -- Life Goes On
Hex -- The Dream Factory
reiver33 -- Look Back In Augur
springs -- Refusing The Road To Heaven
StilLearning -- The ghost of the valley
The Spurring Platty -- Wearing the Chain of Events

I've been musing and pondering and changing my mind all afternoon, but finally I've settled on Culhwch (for the optimism), DEO (the title and vernacular swung it), and StilLearning (I loved the voice).

Thanks for the shortlistings, crystal, Stormcrow and Scott, and megathanks for the votes, Teresa and jimness!

Thanks for the shortlisting, TDZ. :)

And thanks for the vote, Your Honour (although I don't recall mentioning the zombies' vernaculars). :)

P.S. I will say a little something about the title...after the voting is over. Wouldn't want to influence the judges. ;)
