anyone else still wondering about that Highgarden thing. I mean Highgarden seems a bit much for Bronn. How are the going to sell this to dany. Simple answer, they won't. So possible solutions:

- The show don't care anymore and makes Bronn Lord of Highgarden anyways (which don't make sense)
- They kill of Bronn
- They kill of Jaime and Tyrion
- They kill of Tyrion, Jaime technically didn't make the bargain. And if he and Cersei are back on terms, his assassination order by cersei is rescinded.

Also Bronn his fighting days are over, i guess this means he has almost no scenes in the episodes that are left.

Bronn is a strange character, from the little bit he has told , he is from the lower classes, and he has never said where is from, avoids the subject.
He sure has military skills beyond the usual guy in the streets, he is a sell sword now but sure seems to have been and seen and trained for action in the field.
I don't know if the show wants to explain him since even the books have not yet.

Really late to the party here... been busy.

I'm not really sure what to feel about this episode. But one thing I know for sure; the show is doing the strengths of the characters a great injustice. Constant poor planning in every battle. How could Tyrion and Varys ever let any of that happen, let alone any of the other experienced members of Daenerys army... just the same as the previous episode... what are the writers thinking. The writers needed a war veteran on the team to advise them on military strategy...

I wasn't surprised, yet quite disappointed that Vary's is considering betraying Daenerys as soon as he heard about another Targaryen existing. Although, I suspect it goes deeper than that... It's the way the writers are villainising Daenerys that is at the root of my disappointment. I suppose when you look back, you can see the gradual progress towards her mental breakdown state, but I feel it's getting a little too forced this season. They are really trying their hardest to convince us that Daenerys would lose control and kill everybody in a fit of rage. Vary's betraying her, when he was the only one demonstrating any sense of loyalty towards her at the beginning of the episode, would definitely be the last nail in the coffin. It's trying to show that she pretty much has nobody left to support her.

The show is definitely being a bit too carefree with the sacrificing of the dragons, but I suppose that's because they are forcing Daenerys to turn into the "Mad Queen" by killing her children and friends in the worst way possible.

Cersei is really broken if she thinks making a public demonstration of killing Missandei is a sensible thing to do. Even if she believed it was impossible for Daenerys to win, no person in their right mind would provoke Daenerys like that. She is so evil that it has become unrealistic. Maybe she wants Kings Landing to burn...

As for Cersei's death. I feel it has to be Jamie. Whether he knows it or not, that is where his story has always been heading. He is the Kingslayer after all. If not for this, then what point was there to ever make us aware of his past deeds? History repeats itself, fact. And it's kind of poetic justice for it to be Jamie to does it.

I'm worried though. The writers of the show have already demonstrated that they don't know how to do the characters justice, so it's possible they will screw that all up and make it Arya again... After all, they are sending Arya down to Kings Landing to handle "unfinished business."

I suppose when we think about Arya's list of people she wanted to kill, and how Cersei was always at the top of it, and after all, she did become an assassin to seek revenge against everybody on that list. It does still make sense that it could be Arya who kills her. But if they do make it Arya, then they shouldn't have made it Arya that killed the Night King -- well, we know she shouldn't have been the one to do that. I think the writers wrote themselves into a corner during the battle at Winterfell that only Arya could save them from... but her time in Braavos wasn't for the sake of killing the Night King...

Considering they've already used Arya for the Night King problem, it would be pretty poor writing to use her for Cersei as well. Come up with a new idea writers!

I'm wagering now at this point that the books will be considerably different to the show -- as long as GRRM doesn't take inspiration from the show, which would be a very bad thing... Or if he does compare to the show in what NOT to do with the story...

Not in deepest darkest Strangford. ;) there’s a shop, ten pubs and some seals :D:D

The sound stages are in Belfast at the Titanic Studios. They have been vocal about it, in their nonspoilery PR articles. It would be strange, if there wouldn't be a StarBucks over there. At here in West London, there's too many. I can walk half a mile in any direction and there's at least one, if not two or more in vicinity.

Titanic Studios are at the edge of the dock lands, a decent walk from the city. Out of interest I did a google and there are no Starbucks out that way.

I think I just instigated #BelfastStarbucksSham ;) :D

Thanks to the massive Battle of Winterfell in an earlier episode, fans have had to say goodbye to beloved characters who perished at the hands of the Night King. Not all of the goodbyes in this final season have been due to death, as Jon Snow made the decision in this week's episode to part ways with his direwolf companion Ghost, who went to live in the north as Snow began his trek south. Audiences were stunned that the episode failed to depict Snow saying goodbye to the beloved companion, though director David Nutter claims it was the requirement of CGI to convey such a moment that the episode opted to avoid the interaction.

“Since the direwolves are kind of CG creations, we felt it best to keep it as simple as possible,” Nutter shred with Huffington Post. “And I think that it played out much more powerfully that way.”

Fans might disagree with the sequence being more powerful this way, as they were quick to hop on social media to voice their displeasure with Jon leaving such an important part of his life behind. However, as anyone who has had to say goodbye to a pet can tell you, it is often the most difficult goodbye you'll ever have to say, so by avoiding the gesture, Jon was preventing himself the heartache, even though Ghost clearly deserved a loving sendoff.

“Keeping Ghost off to the side, I thought that played out better,” Nutter claimed. "Then he just walks off by himself, he turns to Ghost and has this moment with Ghost that I thought was very, very powerful."

Ghost isn't the only one Jon left behind, as the direwolf set out with his Night's Watch companion Samwell Tarly and partner in combat Tormund.

“I think that Jon knows what he’s leaving behind," Samwell actor John Bradley pointed out. "Jon Snow is a noble man, and he knows all about sacrifice ... He knows what he has to keep safe, and he knows he has a responsibility to Ghost and a responsibility to Sam, Gilly and Baby Sam because he knows where they’ll be safe.”

He added, "He was very aware of the sacrifice of leaving those figures behind, and they know — hopefully, Ghost knows what he means to Jon — and Jon knows what Ghost means to him.”

The direwolves debuted in the first episode of the series, with each of the Stark children adopting their own. Tormund actor Kristofer Hivju pointed out that, while fans would love to see Ghost stay with Jon, the canines shouldn't have been that far south in the first place.

“I think Jon is right that the south isn’t the place for a direwolf," the actor noted. "In Episode Two or Three they killed one of them [Lady, Sansa’s direwolf] — it’s a wild animal, it’s like a wolf plus two! I think it’s best for Ghost to go north.”

With the series nearly over, fans are hoping to catch a glimpse of the characters safely heading north, but Hivju noted, "Well, there’s still two more episodes to go. We don’t know if they survive.”
Game of Thrones Director Admits the Real Reason Jon Never Said Bye to Ghost

It seems a sweet source of caffeine has departed the Game of Thrones universe for good. After a public coffee snafu hit the HBO show’s final season, the network appears to have removed a wayward coffee cup which made its way into season eight.

In a recent report by Variety, attention was brought to HBO’s latest episode of Game of Thrones. The series hit up fans this past weekend with the release, but it prompted countless memes when fans spotted a misplaced cup of coffee in the episode resembling those sold by Starbucks. Now, it seems the gaff has been scrubbed out of the episode online.

As of today, versions of the episode streamed online via HBO Now and HBO GO are missing the coffee cup. Variety says a a rep for HBO didn’t immediately respond for comment, but screenshots from the edited episode have gone live sans coffee cup.

Why was Euron Greyjoy still in King's Landing? Wouldn't such a brilliant sea captain be better placed with his fleet?
With Bronn off threatening people Euron was the only world renowned giant bolt thower captain left. The ability to hit a flying target first time is incredible.

Some great posts above folks!
Well, I enjoyed the episode overall though not enough happened. Tyrion has perhaps gone down the wrong path now. The bolt killing the dragon was a shock as it was very sudden. And I didn't expect another being killed by the same method. Although we discuss it a lot, due to everything that has gone on before, the recent series are not intellectual shows. Still entertaining, but we have to ignore obvious issues like armies not sending scouts ahead to really enjoy it. Or that the battle of Winterfell seems to have had little effect on Dany's army. In fact she believes she can even win the war without the Northerners.

Regarding the effect of the Whitewalkers. Probably the killing of old Mormont north of the wall and precipitating the growth of Jon Snow as a leader was their biggest long term effect on the story. Along with them luring Stannis up north.
And as for the dragons the main effect so far was to make Dany a genuine contender, and their contribution in a victory over the Lannisters in an earlier battle. So the Lannisters couldn't take the whole realm.
So the Fantasy elements perhaps haven't had the impact they might have, but still significant.

I agree with LL Lotte that Jamie makes sense as the QueenCerseiSlayer. Arya may have a go of course. As Arya is with the Hound it seems likely she will kill the other Clegane, perhaps as or after the Hound is killed by zombie Clegane. Both Cleganes were on her old kill list.

Dorne was briefly mentioned. Maybe they will help out Dany.

Indeed - fab discussion :)

Speaking of other armies. What about Daario Naharis and his merry gang? Are they perhaps on their way?

I expected some kind of involvement for Essos by now too. When Mel said she was going to Volantis last season I thought we would get one sequence of her at the Red God's main's temple , nothing.
One notes that Dany is not only the Queen of Meereen not she is also empresses of Slaver's Bay, she could assemble another fleet. All the Dothraki did not go with her. She has enough wealth to outbid anyone in Essos , could go to the Iron Bank and trump KL's price for the Golden Company.
(In the books the greatest navel fleet in both Westeros and Essos belongs to Braavos… hmmm.)
All before using her allies in Westeros.
I don't think any of that will happen.

Probably not enough time in two episodes, no. And Dany has zero patience. Typical millennial....
