DISCUSSION THREAD -- JULY 2023 -- 75 Word Writing Challenge

@The Judge .... The Lamplighter (Or, The Not-So-Little Match Girl) .... This is a story that helps make lamp lighting understandable and probably even fun.

** I first read "the Not-So-Light Match Girl" and I thought I was in for a fat joke.

@Ursa major .... The Sylph Employed… .... This is a story that really puts Sherlock Holmes to shame.

Vote for @Starbeast
With @therapist a very close second

Rest of my short list:
@Cat's Cradle
@Bowler1
@AnRoinnUltra
@The Judge (Nice twist)

So, we should write 2-3 and then enter the best one. After the vote I'll submit my 2nd story that I wrote into the 75 word improvement/critique. Write 2-3, post the better per YPOV. (sigh)
This was a very fun and new genera for me. My I have some more please?
Great stories all-around and something new to explorer.
Great choice @Peter V! (June's winner)

CC and therapist make my shortlist, with very cleverly thought out entries. But Ursa wins my vote. I was struggling to describe why exactly your story so appealed to me, but then I read Christine Wheelwright's comments above and they hit the nail on the head.

Thanks very much to Hugh and C.W. for the shortlistings.

Short listed because:

Mrs. Hyde by @paranoid marvin because it fits the genre and the theme so perfectly.

Jack the Rippers last night, a sad tale of Mutilation and Suffering by @Bowler1 because it is the perfect ending for Jack the Ripper.

Night Patrol by @JS Wiig because it sounds like a perfect set up for a television series.

In the end I voted for Mrs. Hyde by @paranoid marvin.

Voted for:

A game of global domination by @Luiglin

I liked it as a satire of arrogance and stupidity -lives reduced to tiny figurines and flags, and daft leaders as slaves to chance.

Really enjoyed:

Icarus in Ruffles and lace by @johnnyjet

Who needs machines?

Alexander by @therapist

Liked the bit of misdirection.

The Fiend of Whitechapel by @M. Robert Gibson

Almost got the vote -what a snakey git.

...Thanks all for all the stories, reviews, and for an unusual theme. (y)
