Oh Canada!
The entry thread is up in the July 2022 -- 75 Word Writing Challenge

Theme: The Outsider

Genre: Open (Choose your own genre!)

Remember, you only have until end-of-play on 23rd July 2022 to post your entry.

Please keep any comments in this thread and do not comment below or 'like' the entries themselves.

Good luck!

Christine

One entry in already, how did that happen?

I like the theme and my initial reaction is to write about me as I'm clearly the cool and much loved outsider on here, you might as well have put Bowler1 as a theme in my yellow head. But... from past experience when I have cleverly and clearly put myself into a 75 word entry I've never been given a vote which is hard to believe I know, but there you go. So I'm not going to write about me this month and put a little more effort into my work this month, so I'll be back later. The good news it that all of you can use me as inspiration and write about me all you like, I really won't mind and I'm looking forward to seeing what will be written about me this month.

With a worryingly over confident smile (the smile the never changes), Bowler1 saunters off into the sunset (which will be a good starting point for any entry!).

Hey , what a great theme - and I so much more enjoy 'open' to 'speculative'.

And.... I have a poem! I am so chuffed that the muse has returned.

Good luck everyone, and well done to the early entrants who have already got the Challenge off to a very good start.

I think I'll do an autobiography. Seventy-five words should be just about right.

--------

@JS Wiig .... What’ll it be, Mister? .... This story left me with the question of how quick the draw was and if anyone got hurt.

@TheIntelligencePolice .... Wedded Bliss .... This story left me with the question when does our change to my?

@Guttersnipe .... Boo .... This story left me with question of who planned the menu and who catered?

Last edited:
JS Wiig: A wry look at the reader's expectations.

TheIntelligencePolice: A grim tale of deception.

Guttersnipe: A sly variation on classic themes.

AnRoinnUltra: A satiric account of prejudice.

THX1138: A dark version of old stories.

reiver33: An intense portrait of reality and the unreal.

Cat's Cradle: A moving picture of small acts of kindness.

Just learned the actual meaning of a word ...20 hours after using it in a challenge -lesson learned, time to buy a dictionary;)

@AnRoinnUltra .... A night at the cinema .... Left me with the question was Meursault Bungalow even human?

@THX1138 .... From the Inside .... Left me with the question, "Did she actually do it?"

@reiver33 .... Rebound .... Left me with the question, "Is Reiver33 prescient?"

@Cat's Cradle .... Circling Towards a Drain .... Left me with the question, "What does gratefulness mean?"

@Victoria Silverwolf .... View Through a Window .... Left me with question, "What happens next?"

Confession, I've been ghosting around this site for quite a few months, long before I took the plunge and joined up, and I've read quite a lot of these challenge stories in that time, and quite a few from before I found you all, and one of the things that awes me every time me is how differently and uniquely each person interprets the challenge. It's brilliant to see just how one theme can produce such a wide variety of stories.

Good stuff, been at them for the guts of a year myself and I think they've sharpened up my wordliness. Writing can be a lonely, and sometimes seemingly pointless way of spending time. The challenges are great for keeping it going, and the short format means it's easy to find time to read the entries -welcome (y)

I was ghosting around the sight for 8 years (years) before I decided to give it a try myself. I try to write a 75 worder in a different style each time just to test myself.

I dunno about lonely, stick the laptop on, turn up the music, and I'm happy in the company of the people I'm creating ... sometimes I get so caught up with them that I even forget the wife is in the same room... oops! o_O

Cheers for the welcome! :)

Snap. 'Salacious' seems to fit nicely there, no need to look up what it means. FF>>20hrs/curiosity & dictionary.com ...d'oh! It's a bad day when ya don't learn something;)

One of the drawbacks of being too quick on the draw.
