Just to confirm we haven't forgotten it's the 1st and therefore the 300 Worder is due today. A draft has gone up in the Staff Room and it just needs a copy of the chosen image to complete it.

As usual, the Challenge thread will be locked until the 10th, so there's no rush to get a story written, but we really ought to have a big celebration this quarter, as

this is the 50th 300 Worder!!

So I hope we can make it a super-duper Challenge by getting as many wonderful stories as possible. If you've not entered for a while, dust off your computer keys and start feeding up your muse!!

Meanwhile, if you want a hint as we wait for the image to appear, think ice (and not the sort to put in your celebratory drink, unless it's a really, really big one... ;))

Ooo, more room to conjure in. Oh, good image. (Look at me, resisting the temptation to use 'cool' instead of 'good'. Adulting at it's very best.)

I'm looking at it, thinking 'what from this?' when a daft opening line arrives... An hour later, done. Even for my lightning-strike story creation, that was unexpected. Now to let it settle.
 
So, I have been on and off of Chrons this evening writing, posting and thinking. If I am correct, it's taken 12 and a 1/2 years to get to this 50th 300 worder? I just want to thank the Chronicles staff for choosing my photo for this occasion.
I thank all of you very much! :)

I'm looking forward to the inspirations and interpretations it will bring to everyone!

ETA: wow just seen the pic. It looks like a cross section of epidermis and dermis. Luckily I’m not one for body horror ;)
 
Yes, terrific story, Victoria!

I'm in, too. I wanted to do something different from my usual stuff... I was as interested in word flow and tone, as the story. Hope it worked, and hope people enjoy it. (Mainly I am happy to be posted, and done tinkering with the thing.) Those 50 extra words really helped, thanks to the show runners (they allowed me to add an extra character)! And again, excellent photo THX1138, very inspiring.
