DISCUSSION -- November 2018 -- 85 Word Challenge

Okay, so I was checking the forum a lot up till, what, like a week ago or something, and then I got busy with work and kids and forgot.

Damn it, I didn't even vote. Crap, hate to do that to you guys, but I guess it wouldn't have changed the outcome. Consider my vote for your story, each and every one of you :)

Gotta get a report done at work, grab some food, and then get back on here and figure out how to post next months challenge.

Ok, so dual flogging of TDZ and Tywin? (As an aside, my autocorrect tried to change that to "duel flogging", which sounds pretty interesting too...)

oh b#gger, i missed the vote again. i had great plans to do it yesterday morning but work caught up with me. it's the danger of knowing I have until midday on the 29th (or thereabouts) to vote and being naturally inclined to leave everything to the last minute.

luckily i don't think myineptitude affected the result... congrats @Tywin for a great story and win. if i had been in time i probably would have voted for you too.

i had no ideas whatsoever for my story until the idea of an OCD murderer hit me and i ran with it. mostly because i misread the 1st post and thought the only genre was horror. it wasn't until my last-minute (see, there's a trend) effort was out the electronic door that i actually read it properly. thanks to @TheDustyZebra for the mention and many thanks to @Joshua Jones for the vote.

also, i realised after i read through all the entries that mine bears a resemblance to @Ashleyne's, so apologies for that - it was a complete coincidence.

There was one surprising non-entrant this month.....

I hope all is well in the court room.

Oh! I almost messed up! I saw the December story thread, and thought today, after midnight, was December 1st. I started a story at 2am my time - finished at 3:15am - and was about to post it. But today is the 30th, isn't it?

So, I'm sorry, I wrote my story one day early. I shall vote one day later than usual, if that would balance the scales? ;)

edit - but of course, the story thread is locked. So, as Joey said on Friends, it's a moo point, anyway.

edit 2 - now I'm feeling bad that I wrote my story early. I promise it's all done, and edited...75 words, and I won't change a thing in it, before I post tomorrow. Sorry, all!

Not sure why you'd be sorry that you wrote early, or even that it posts early for that matter... Doesn't seem like that would materially affect the outcome. I mean, you could have written that 75-word reindeer space opera ages ago.

Well, I'm one for the level playing field, and all of that. People who can actually read a calendar (unlike myself) might know to not seek out the December story thread till it's actually December. ;)

But I guess I disadvantage myself by writing, so often, on the first or second day of a challenge, instead of using more of the provided 23 days, as the wiser folk do, so I guess there is the levelling. I know it might seem I'm worrying too much, but I'm obsessive about fairness. Okay, just ignore me now. That would be fair. :)

No need to worry; I am already scheming about reindeer antics...

I was gonna say... it's not a requirement that you write your story in one day. Hmm. Perhaps I should tell myself that as well, since I do the same -- it's just that you do it on the first day and I do it on the last. :D

But it's perfectly ok to spend days thinking about it and polishing, if you wish.
