As a follow up top my earlier post of my astrophotos: I had a few more tries at ISS passes since then. I used a slightly longer exposure time, to pick up the solar panels - which means the brightest part of the image has streaked, but a shorter exposure gives me only the bright core part. With my knowledge and the equipment I've currently got, and my position in Scotland where I never get a pass closer than 640 km, this may well be as good as I'll be able to get it - I'm no Thierry Legault. So I've put together a collection of the best of what I've been able to get - I can at least say I've been able to capture the 'H' shape, and differentiate the centre of the station from the big solar panels:

I've also had another go at the Moon - I've turned the colour saturation up, and the very pale colours I'm getting are roughly in line with the expected colour-tints of the rocks - bluer and lighter yellow tones (you can see it done really well here APOD: 2006 February 16 - The Color of the Moon ) :

Just finished this drawing of one of my favourite singers, EYE

EYE 5-24 1a.jpg

As I've been kindly allowed to get away with posting my astrophotography here before: This was the sky over my house (Scotland, near Falkirk) about an hour ago. With the naked eye the colours weren't that visible, just the pattern of light, but I turned the exposure up to 1 second and there they were:

The culprit is the first in as series of 6 solar storms, spat in out direction by the big cluster of sunspots in the picture below (taken earlier today):

Not the greatest astrophotography ever - but this is my first go at catching aurora, so I thought I'd share

My glimpse of it last night here in Michigan wasn't a great deal better. I could see some of the green and the light pattern with the naked eye, but not as brightly as my phone's camera could.

They're not very good pictures, but I at least got something. Going to try again tonight.

I'd say you got it a lot better than I did!
