I downloaded Shards of Earth by Adrian Tchaikovsky. I'll finish the Bobiverse first and then I think I'll make this my next read.

Looks like no one has gotten any books for a while. Here's what my wife gave me for Christmas today:

Vintage issues of Niekas, #9 & #12, from the mid-1960s. These come from just before and just after the release of the Tolkien fantasies in American paperbacks.

Well, (like others, I assume) I have, but just haven't posted in a while. :)

Here's some SF/F stuff I've gotten since the last time. I had #3 of what you might call the original trilogy, but finally got the first two:

Then I used to have this and got it back:

And even though I've got most everything in it, I couldn't resist ordering this cool paperback original to complete my "all essential books by Fritz Leiber" collection (so I hope it arrives soon and as described):

My wife got me the His Dark Materials trilogy and La Belle Sauvage, fist book in The Book of Dust for Christmas. Super excited to read them!

So which books have you recently spent your hard earned cash or pocket money on :)

What little gems couldnt you resist and ended up on your bookshelf:D

I have to be careful with my pennies these days so the only books that get onto my bookshelves (yep got more than one) now are my favourite authors works.

There was a special offer on (last week) at the book club I am a member of and I've sent for -

Sabriel, Lirael and Abhorsen by Garth Nix
Grass for his Pillow and Brilliance of the Moon by Lian Hearn

Havent' got them yet but eagerly awaiting them :D
Have you ever read “The Keys to the Kingdom” series by Garth Nix? I read those years ago when I was on my first deployment and they were pretty good.

My trusty card catalog tells me I have a copy but it’s buried up in the attic. My one single goal for 2022 is, come Spring, climb up the pull-down, dig it out and read it. Whatever else happens will be immaterial.

I love Stevenson... what else is in there with those two stories?

I think people sometimes don't read RLS -- oh, he's some classic author who wrote that pirate book for boys, etc. But no: there's a lot more to him (though Treasure Island is a great story, too).

Wow! Be sure to mention what you think of "Olalla."

I haven't read a couple of those -- "Will o' the MIll" and "The Treasure of Franchard." Have to remedy that.
