I saw this post on Facebook, would it really do this?

It depends on the size of the pot and the room, but yes. The clay heats up, the heat spreads throughout the entire pot, and it can take (and then disperse into the room) a lot of heat
Surely that assembly does not produce any more heat than the candle alone? It might spread it out differently, but the wattage will be exactly the same.
 
You can also cook food in a Haybox.

My grandma always did that when my dad was a kid. He said she'd get the stew in first thing in the morning, and when they got home in the evening, it just needed a light warm and was ready.
