Thought I'd highlight it here, because
a) It is interesting
b) Raise awareness so UK people on here might help with spotting egg thieves
 
I’ve never understood egg thieving and will have no hesitation in reporting any thievery I see. Despicable crime. Maybe the punishment should be the confiscating of all and any financial assets belonging the perpetrator (the proceeds to be spent on conservation).

In some small way, the criminal might finally understand the effect of losing a (nest)egg.
 
We let cats run amok and I regularly find maimed birds in my garden.

This is a much smaller problem than that but I guess humans can only really care on special occasions.
 
One of the problems with humans is that they target very rare birds. It's unlikely a cat could ever disturb an Osprey nest but determined humans have done exactly that.
