A new episode of downloadable content is out for Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2, on both PC and Mac (well the sequel on the latter, as the original still isn’t ready), and also the Xbox 360 (later this evening).

The Sacrifice DLC is the prequel to The Passing, and takes place from the Left 4 Dead survivors’ point of view as they attempt to travel South. It’s free (for the PC and Mac, not Xbox sadly), and you get the Sacrifice campaign, with maps playable in Campaign, Versus and Survival modes.

With Left 4 Dead 2, players get the Sacrifice campaign plus No Mercy from the first game, playable with the original survivors. The added bit of zest is you’ll get to use the Left 4 Dead 2 items and weapons in No Mercy. As the developer puts it, “Yes, Zoey with a chainsaw!”

In celebration of the release of this latest episode, there’s a sale going on where you can pick up either Left 4 Dead or the sequel for $6.80, which is 66% off. Or you can grab both for $10.20 for an even bigger saving. A zombie tempter indeed.

If you want to see more of The Sacrifice, there’s a nice little trailer ensconced here, along with further details on those offers.
