Looking for Beta Centauri story

I heard about a story, an Earth expidition goes to Beta Centauri (so I'm told) and find plant/vegetable type inhabitants that are meat eaters, they have picked clean all the food and are quite pleased to see food show up. The leaders there have to protect the humans while they try to find out how to get to Earth for food. Any help would be appreciated, I believe the story to from the thirties or earlier.

This is 'Proxima Centauri' (written 1935), by Murray Leinster, available in Del Rey's 'Best of M.L.' ('78), presumably amongst others. Nice to be able to answer someone's query, given that I'm a newbie here
