Really old, read it 50+ years ago

Children's scifi all about 2 young boys in a small town who make friends with a very strange man in town who lives in a house by himself and looks a little odd. Turns out he is an alien and if memory serves (which is questionable) they travel to his home planet and adventures ensue. This broad memory of it keeps popping into my head and I am going crazy trying to remember it. I think there may have been several books.

Yes I believe it is. Thank you so much. If I can find a copy I do believe my youngest grandson will get a kick out of this.

Well it turns out Amazon has it and there are a number of sequels, I think I only read the first 2. Grandson's birthday coming up this month, I think that problem is solved.

Of course . Just discovered the library has it, all 6 or 7 books. Back to looking for a birthday present for him as there is no point in buying him something he and his mother can enjoy a trip to the library for. He may have to wait a bit though because I am aware of someone who is about to check them all out for a trip down memory lane.


He loves to build things so heading over to the MindWare site to see what I can find for him.
