Dinosaurs and their ancestors

Interesting point. Conventional wisdom is that the carnivorous theocodonts were replaced by their dinosaur descendants after being victims of their own success and virtually wiping out existing herbivore stocks. I have never been happy with this scenario and the possibility of gradual replacement, and a faunal overlap, makes far more sense.
 
The problem with that theory is the fact that the polish incident appears to be the only example. What could have happened was the there was a disturbance and the fossils from one geological layer were forced into another. That could explain why there are no complete skeletons
