It only has 2 episodes on it but from the reviews its worth it!

I'm inclined to wait for a box set of the entire season, but I realize that it may take some nagging on the part of fans to get marketing to move in that direction.

for the money 2 eppis are not enough!

farscape is doing the same thing, only 4 eppis are relesaed as vol 1 at $22.00 US

SG1 did much the same thing as well, releasing the first season spread over several DVDs -- until some bright marketing person realized that the company would make more $ if folks were offered a box set. Now, instead of picking and choosing amongst favorite eps and avoiding the purchase of some DVDs entirely, people shell out more $ and accept all the eps, good and bad (not that any of our favorite shows ever produce bad eps )

NEW UPDATE ON THE DVD!!

First Season Smallville on sale Sept. 23. It is a six-disc set with all 21 episodes including the pilot.
