Book Hauls!

Not really a recent book haul. These were missing for over thirty years but the other day I found them stuffed out of sight behind a stack of trade paperbacks on one of my bookcases. Have no recollection of putting them there.

Today, through the post I got a envelope.

Someone I had bought Belgian/French comics from previously on eBay just sent me, from France, free of charge, and for no discernable reason, other than as a random act of kindness, a pile of 11 Tintin comics from 1970/1.

I am really touched. Je suis très ému.

Laidlaw has been lurking on my shelves for decades and I never get to it in spite of it being on at least one list of top 100 crime/mystery/detective novels. (H. R. F. Keating's list)

This is an image I found online. I don't have a copy; but the cover art's kind of intriguing. It came to mind when I saw AE35Unit's posting above with different cover art.

A while back, I did some research for an article on the magazine appearance of the novella version of this novel, and found out that this first edition cover art was recycled from an earlier book. You can see that it has been reversed also.
