Location
Leicester, The Las Vegas of the Midlands!
With 900+ members so far, it's shaping up to be a good 'un. I'll be there, of course, and so will someone called George RR Martin (A record producer, I think). How about you guys?

I dislike the location and the hotel, but I'll be there since I'm launching Rocket Science at the con.

For the first time in almost a decade, I may actually be able to be there. (I hope there'll be accommodation available when I know for certain.)

Good luck with that. :):)

They're a bit slow at announcing the programme... or did I miss something? I live close enough to commute and go home drunk on the train... so I can spend hotel fees in the bar!

Nope, you haven't missed anything

I think the final update for attending members is the beginning of March.

And, yes, I will be there. I hope.

The hotel's rooms are sold out, but there's a Premier Inn half a mile down the road that's doing rooms for cheaper. You can book one now for no charge until the day of arrival, also you can cancel it with no charge until 1pm that day.

Ahem... not that I work for them or anything... *looks askance*

Not seen much announced on this so far?

It does seem to have snuck up this year Brian. I'm still waiting to see what the programme will look like - it's amusing and frustrating in equal measure that these large conventions can't or won't release their planned daily activities for fear of having to reissue with large scale changes.

Anyway, back on the subject I am hoping to attend if I can get the time off work and find somewhere nearby so with luck I'll bump into some fellow chronites in the GRRM signing queue :)

Hi Guys:

Shall we arrange some kind of meeting point for SFF Chrons people? It'd be nice to put faces (and maybe real names) to usernames and avis.

Honestly, I haven't read the work of any of the star guests … except maybe that record producer's stuff. Although, I have lately learned that Joe Abercrombie will be there, on some panels, and our very own Anne Lyle is intending to be there too!!!!

Coragem.

You could all come to the Rocket Science launch. It'll be on the programme. And buy a copy of the book, of course. :)

I know this will come as a shock, but I too will be at Eastercon... and I too will be holding a book launch!

Friday, 5.00pm, for anyone who wants to drink wine, socialise, or just say 'hi'. Oh, and of course you can also buy books...

I'll be launching three new titles:

Dark Currents - an anthology featuring all new stories from Tricia Sullivan, Adrian Tchaikovsky, Adam Nevill, Nina Allan, Aliette de Bodard, Lavie Tidhar, Sophia McDougall, Rod Rees, Una McCormack, Neil Williamson, etc.

Saving for a Sunny Day - a new short story collection from the inimitable Ian Watson, featuring fifteen previously uncollected stories, with notes on each piece by the author.

The Outcast and the Little One -- brilliant debut novel from Andy West set on a future Venus where two post-human races struggle for supremacy: the pacifist, mechanoid Aumons, and the exotic, aggressive Clonir.

Feel free to come along, drink and make merry! :)

It's my fave so far too. Still can't work out its geometry, though...

Couple of years ago (at Eastercon in the Radisson Edwardian) there was a panel on non-eucliden geometry. It was quite helpful in understanding the layout of the hotel.

I'll be there (as long as my funds hold out).

Ooh, put a copy of Sunny Day to one side for me! Every house should have a Watson!

I am indeed! I'm down for three different panels (none with Joe, unfortunately), and of course I'll be around to sign your nice shiny copies of The Alchemist of Souls - I'm sure Angry Robot will have a stall, and maybe a signing session as well :)

Panels:

* The Fantasy of William Shakespeare
* How Pseudo do you like your Medieval?
* Worldbuilding: When, How and How Much?

Complete noob question: when one "joins", is this the action that gives you access to the convention, or is there another step and payment? (By the way, I'm considering being there for the whole duration and my joining would be appropriate to that.)

(Yes, I'm almost sure I can attend. :))
