What would this genre be called?

Okay, so I have a novel idea that I've been working on, but as I look at it I still cannot figure out what genre it would fit under. Technically speaking it's a historical piece set in the Victorian 1700s, but it also contains a lot of alterations/changes to the events of the past, giving it a different kind of setting from the actual Victorian Era. What kind of genre would this be? I always call it "historical alternative" when people ask me about it, but I'm not so sure that's a real genre...

Alternative history is an established genre. Steampunk is too - sf set in the Victorian era using steam powered tech
