30.12: The Stolen Earth

Wouldn't Sarah-Jane be the "most faithful companion"?

Apart from anything else, she's about to be exterminated by a couple of Daleks, she hasn't got a teleportation device on her and those that do are somewhat preoccupied by the Doctor's situation.

Also, sorry for the double posting but Sarah-Jane having a son??? Who's the father?

Loved this episode... haven't seen the Who fans this excited for aaaaaages!

xx

Luke, Sarah Jane's son is adopted - and an atrificial life form to boot, all covered in The Sarah Jane Adventures, unfortunately

As as for the excited part - definately!!!

I did notice that ... perhaps they stick his hand on in the middle of his regeneration and hey presto - up pops the same doctor! :D

Yes, put in some of same genes from his hand and maybe he can regenerate from them, recreating the same body.

And yes, I guess Sarah Jane would be the most faithful; she has been there the longest. Hmmm.

Ooh, thanks for that, I'm never home in time to watch The Sarah Jane Adventures... at least that's one part of the puzzle solved...

The rest is still a mystery... if the Doctor does regenerate into another body then all credit to RTD and the BBC for keeping that quiet...

I remember seeing an article last year with Catherine Tate saying to Jonathan Ross that she thought this would be DT's last season... can't wait to find out!

xx

Hi, Mrs R here. If a companion has to go, it will be doing something dramatic like saving the doctor's life, or saving the universe. I can't see they'll kill Sarah Jayne off at the point we left her. That's not to say they won't pick her, only later if it is.

My money is on Donna, but in that case they just can't get rid of David Tennant at the same time. Anyway wouldn't River Song have commented on his regeneration?

I think I read somewhere, though, that he told her off (jokingly) for doing that (or saying something similar somewhere else) because it wasn't true.

But who knows.

But I may have to sue if David and Catherine leave the show...:p

Just had a brilliant thought.

If Caan's somehow interfered with the Time War to save Davros that must've affected the rest of the war. Time Lords coming back, anyone?

my thoughts precisely, although i can't see her giving up the ghost so easily - not while her foot's on the acceleration pedal.... :D

I don't think it is going to be Sarah Jane as her own show has been renewed for a second season - unless all of that is a scam - but the reports seem to be real, as they were talking about filming seasons 2 & 3 back to back.

(Anyone who hasn't seen The Sarah Jane Adventures look out for it when it comes out on DVD, if it hasn't already, it's good solid fun, most episodes a little juvenile, but some are superb)

All the sources I've seen have it as "confirmed" that DT is in for next year's four specials. I'd forgotten the hand. My thoughts go two ways then: it is somehow physically used ('dragged' into the energy of the regeneration, or thrown in by the companions) or simply its presence affects the effects of the regeneration.

courtesy of the BBC Dr Who pages.....
tune in to BBC One tomorrow just before 1pm to see a bonus trailer for the episode. We'll have it online here at the Official Site straight afterwards too.

I thought that was odd; no trailer yet... though the BBC website shows it as 65 minutes

Ye gods, where to start?

I liked a lot about the ep (Davros coming back is great, Dalek Caan was wonderfully bonkers, Donna standing up to the Shadow Proclamation was brilliant), some I didn't (Harriet Jones, mainly - particularly the stupid, stupid overplaying of the "former Prime Minister/Yes, we know who you are" bit)...and one bit that I'm surprised no one has mentioned. Perhaps it's just me...

No, surely not. Someone else must surely have listened to the dialogue between Davros and the Supreme Dalek and thought: "hang on. They're doing Star Wars here. It's the Emperor and Vader." No? Well, I did.:p

And as for the regeneration... Ho boy. Didn't see that one coming at all. Not one bit. I'm really hoping everyone here is right and something (or someone) either interferes or somehow stops the Doc from regenerating into someone else. I'm sure (as has been mentioned) that DT has signed up for the specials next year, but that could easily be a bluff designed to keep everyone off the scent. Hope not...

And I don't want to have to wait a week for the conclusion! Emergency Temporal Shift!:D

Not the longest - there is another, to borrow a line....:p

And me...Davros even looks like Palpatine, and doesn't the Red Dalek remind you of someone's helmet?...

Yeah, the the longest serving companion (on the screen anyway was Jamie McCrimmon)

I personally think the companion to go will be Donna, just things that have been said over the course of the last few episodes... but I'm used to being wrong:D

The hand seems to be a big factor in all of this, and my other half offered some fof the wall thinking - what if that regenerates as well - into DDT, and we end up with two Doctors... a bit extreme perhaps but could be a lot of fun.

I was thinking of the entity disguised as a blue box....been a companion if the Doctor from the very beginning...:p

But I can't see how it would fit in with the presnt state of the story...

Yep. Just wait for next week - I'll bet you anything Davros comes out with "with each passing moment you make yourself more my servant".

It'll happen. Mark my words...:D:rolleyes:

Oooh Pyan, I like your way of thinking, that could be a very interesting twist (I would have said unforseen but you've seen it....);)

It may just be me giving it more thought then it's worth, but only one side of the Doctor was exterminated - one heart. Everyone else goes completely X-ray crazy. Their whole body flashes, but with the Doctor only his left side flashed.

BBC iPlayer - Doctor Who: Series 4

Bang on 42 minutes and 37 seconds. Watch. Re-watch. Watch a third time, and see if you agree.

I'd forgotten about the hand, by the way. Now's our chance to finally bring those scriptwriters who have infiltrated the Chrons into the light! Muahaha!!

---

I'm with Harpo and others who have said things to the same effect - Dalek Caan is fantastic! :p I was giggling all the time he was on.

---

However, for those spotting "what is the theme this season" I think we've had about everything: stolen/missing planets, the bees, the Medusa Cascade, the Shadow Proclamation... and we finally found what they all meant.

I got one right without Wikipedia'ing it! :D And I was right about the Shadow Proclamation being a sort of celestial UN:

- The Shadow Proclamation protects all planets from invasion, like some sort of celestial UN

I was off with my thoughts on Rose being tied in with the SP, and that in the Medusa Cascade new planets are born, though.

I've lost track - was it this week's ep that originally didn't have a published title?

Yep, Tep.

Something I noticed, which I'm very surprised no-one else did - when Harriet Jones, former Prime Minister was calling, there was a familiar tapping noise. Duh-duh duh-duh. The phone signal also went out in two sets of two. And Donna heard it on the steps.

Maybe someone's trying to get into our minds and screw us over? OMGZ, RTD is the Master!

---

As for my thoughts on the episode... it seemed a bit forced, in my opinion.

And it was nice to see Gwen and Ianto. :) Makes you wonder how they defeat the Dalek, because I'm pretty sure both of them (who, and I'm sure it'll make some people happy, worked as a team with Jack) have signed on for TW Series 3, as has Jack.

Sarah Jane, and particularly Mr. Smith, annoyed me. Oh, and why no K-9? He hasn't been killed off, has he?

EDIT: I'd also like to comment that, for once, the finale isn't a London-based one. Hell, it's not even at the Earth's co-ordinates! ;)

But seriously, this series seems to have had much fewer Earth episodes than other series... thought it might just be me.
