The best Discworld novel imho, and felt like the culmination of all the stories involving Vimes and the Watch.

I very, very nearly agree wholeheartedly--if I didn't love Going Postal or Jingo almost as much as Night Watch! But yes, no TP book comes as close to being a clear best as Night Watch for me. In a way it feels like the peak of the Watch novels; Thud was where his writing started to get heavier and more overpacked. Still great books, still love them, but with that one increasing flaw.

It's funny how you sometimes see your own comments from years ago and now disagreeing with yourself quite strongly. This has happened to me more than once!
