Number Six shows up on board the Galactica posing as someone else, prompting a crisis for Baltar when she accuses him of being a traitor.

This was an interesting episode, but there really wasn't much substance to the three story threads -- the main one of Baltar being accused of being a traitor -- the specialist crew trying to get the Cylon Raider to fly -- and Helo and Boomer on Caprica.

The important points were the things that weren't said -- like how it is even more possible that anyone could be a Cylon, and isn't that general paranoia exactly what the Cylons would like?

No.6 is right that no one will now accuse Baltar of treachery a second time, but from everyone elses perspective he must still appear to be mentally deranged -- talking to oneself, conversations with people who are not there, and not seeing someone who is there -- this is not normal behaviour, yet everyone just ignores it.

I was unhappy with a lot fo this episode and like Dave said 3 weak stories rather than 1 strong one.

Baltar and No6, this started off well until she did the dissapearing act. When the "new" No6 appeared in the guise of Miss Godfrey it added a lot more intruige as to what Baltar would do. Unfortunatly it was not used to best effect. It became more and more apparant that it was actually No6 and not another copy which brings about the following points.

How can she take on a physical form?

The fake evidence of Baltar, where and how did she get this? To have it suggests there was a plan set against Baltar from the beginning?

I understand the manipulation of Baltar, the way No6 uses religion to full effect and how step by step she is setting things in place for an upcoming event. Baltar I believe will either save or destroy the remaining Humans.

The Caprica snippet was pointless they should of not made any reference to it this week.

The Cylon Raidder was used to good effect with Boomer, her alter ego starting to show more and more. The writing of cylon in her locker I believe was done by herself. Her subconcious saying what she fears.

The ending with No6 on the stairs had sooo much potential, oh well never mind.

I look forward to next week

I'm not so sure, there are obviously many copies of No.6, just as we know that there are two copies of Boomer, and three copies of the man (I forget the name -- the one they left behind, then bombed the ship last week, and one on Caprica.) That's partly what I meant: if there are 13 different android models and we have only seen 3 so far, anyone could be one.

I hadn't thought of that, but it makes perfect sense.

I agree with Dave. I think 'Godfrey' was a separate copy of No. 6 - the impression I got from her original explanation to Baltar was that there were at least tens if not hundreds of human-form cylons....

And as for the point about Baltar talking to himself... I talk to myself, out loud, all the time. I am not exaggerating. When I'm alone or at least not talking to someone else, I natter to myself about whatever's on my mind. I get a few funny looks, but I don't think anyone really thinks I'm completely nuts (Stop backing away! Why are you backing away? Come back! Don't leave me with me! ;) ). I reckon that for the most part Baltar could get away with it, though everyone should be looking at him funny after this episode.....

Just a thought,

Rik

Baltar is a undoubted genius and there is the stereotype of the 'absent minded professor', but in this episode he is doing things that are just plain stupid, more especially for a man under suspicion. And it gets worse in later episodes!

I read on another board someone questioning the number of reporters who turn up for the presidents speeches -- after all the number of humans remaining is only that of a small city, but the number of reporters with microphones is out of all proportion. This is something that did cross my mind also. Even if each ship wanted it's own reporter, could they spare the man-power to allow it?

Someone thought that since there was a press conference on the Galactica to cover her retirement at the time of the cylon attacks, the reporters could have come from that. People will continue to do the occupations they're comfortable (and skilled at) doing, regardless of whether or not it's immediately worthwhile. I think that is probably true.

Again another good episode although the overt religious aspect did make me feel uncomfortable. No. 6 is really pushing this hard and Baltar is caving in under the pressure and stress. It will change him, although apparently being religious hasn't cured him of rampant egotism and self absorption.
It has made him a sympathetic figure however, which is what he sorely needed. I dislike how this "genius" is being so easily manipulated however.

This is an excellent point. After all, the world has just ended...what do you do but try to carry on as before as the truth would overwhelm you with despair. A problem to be faced in the future however.

The writing of cylon in her locker I believe was done by herself. Her subconcious saying what she fears.

This is an excellent observation and, on reflection, is bloody obvious! It's such a shame I didn't think of it!! :)
