Iconic American hero type comes home to boarding house and wows everyone at dinner with his tales of training and impressive space lingo, while smaller introverted intelligent brother (I think) gets annoyed by the hubbub.
Later when he is alone, people appear in his room and invite him to the real program. They explain that his brother is just for show and that they need people like him who can keep their own company for long space trips. He is relieved to go.
