Doctor Who... In Colour....

I haven't seen this colourised version, but I did re-watch the old black and white version last year on the 60th anniversary. I say re-watch, but I could have only have been about 5 on the first viewing. There were several missing episodes (I think) shown with animations, so not sure how they get around that, unless they've found some more since (but that could explain why it is shorter.) Also I agree that Jon Pertwee didn't appear until the "escaping from the hospital scene in a wheelchair" in the following season. I also agree about the "future of dress is jumpsuits" thing "with high collars" and I never understood that even as a child watching things like Logan's Run. When did that idea start? Ming the Merciless had a high collar so maybe it comes from old Comics. Also Fu Manchu.

What I wanted to say was that last night, the social media platform X, was exercised by a totally different complaint. The big problem they see with this is the background music added, and specifically, the playing of the season (six?) Master theme music, each time the Chief War Lord appears, with the insinuation (and retcon) that the Chief War Lord is the Master.

Anyhow, is this something I need to watch (given the changes, additions, missing bits, retconning, and the fact that I recently watched the original already)?

Also worth checking out are the restorations on YouTube. Absolutely stunning.

I'm sure there was an Inferno 4k restoration, but it doesn't seem to be there any more.

I think you might be mixing it up with another Troughton release (which are often in bits:cry:) as I'm fairly certain the original dvd is complete. It doesn't say anything to the contrary on the cover but it's been a while since I watched it.

I just watched it. I now remember that I only watched the final episode of The War Games (which is probably now most different part.) I did like what they did with the part where he is choosing his new 'face' and they inserted real future versions of the Doctor. That makes it funnier on another level.

As for the Master/War Chief idea, I have no problem with the Master being an earlier reincarnation of the War Chief. Yes, he was shot dead, but as we well know, that isn't fatal to a Time Lord. He could have recovered off-screen. I'm sure that we saw the Master use a TARDIS of the same design as the two being used later in the Pertwee era, and it even seems to be a standard design of the Time Lords themselves - they sent Zoe and Jamie back in one - so probably what the Doctor's TARDIS would also look like if the damaged chameleon circuit could ever be switched off.

I always thought that the Meddling Monk could/should have been the Master too. Let's face it, it's highly unlikely that there can be three different rogue Time Lords, all travelling about the universe causing changes, and yet the Time Lords only pass judgement and punishment on one of them. It hardly seems fair,
