Anyway, my old microwave went kaput I've replaced it with a similar model the Panasonic NN-CT56JB. It's a combination oven - microwave, grill & convection.
In convection mode it goes into pre-heat first. You set the desired oven temperature and it uses the fan-element and the grill to heat up quickly. Then you put the food in and set the time. On the previous model the grill then went out and the fan-element continued with the cooking.
However, on this model the grill stays on with the fan-element for the cooking time. Does this sound ok?
There is a 'combination' mode where you can select grill and fan but I didn't in this case.
I've had a chat with an online helpdesk guy he said it wasn't right but, unfortunately, he didn't seem very certain. I don't want to go through all the hassle of taking it back, waiting for weeks for them to look at it only to be told that that's how it's supposed to be.
