Short Story SF recommendations? (new member)

Berserker by Fred Saberhagen first in the series, Its mostly short stories about the ultimate death machine and enemy all life the Berserkers . It's good stuff. :cool:

Here, mankind has a very stark choice ether be served into slavery by former or wiped out by the latter. :)

With all of the people talking about civilization collapsing and making comparisons to ancient civilisations that story comes to mind. The Romans did not have maintain a transcontinental electric power grid. So any real collapse will be fast. Imagine any city of over a million people with no electric power.

Apartments more than 10 stories up with no elevators or lights in the stairwells. No refrigerators. Chaos across the US in 3 months.

The British anthology series Out of the Unknown did an adaptation of The Machine Stops.
