What kind of fantasy/sci-fi world do you wish to live in?

I would absolutely love to visit Mega City 1, but i definitely wouldn't want to live there. I could see myself in the idyllic Culture.

Hi,

The Shire? I hadn't considered it. But what about the doors? The ceiling heights? I'm just average height but damn it I can't even get into my sister's cars. I don't want to spend my life bending just to live in a hobbit hole!

Cheers, Greg.

I suppose it would have to be The Culture, simply because it offers by far the best standard of living of most fantasy/sci-fi settings I can think of.

I would just love a guided tour of The Cursed Earth. :D

A future in which we have reached the stars and contacted other mature, peace-loving species. I long to exchange art, music, poetry, literature, histories, conversation - pehaps even develop friendships and relationships.

Middle Earth.
Ah, what you mean is "I'd like to live on Middle-earth as an elf/hobbit/Ent/man of Gondor/Rohan. You really wouldn't want to be an orc/goblin/slave of Rhun/Haradrim, though...;)

To be honest, the average citizen of Gondor or Rohan is probably a medieval peasant, more or less, and I'd give that a miss. I'd go for the Culture: not only is it pleasant and doesn't oppress its own citizens, but it's immensely strong and could probably flatten any external enemies.

The Discworld, somewhere up on The Chalk. The Nac Mac Feegle aside, it seems to be a very pleasant place and civilised place
