Is writing spoofs actually a good way to learn a style?

I got Agatha Christie for my YA Fantasy, Adult Horror Fantasy and my WIP, a Sci-fi Fantasy. I've never read her books, but might do, someday, just to see if the computer programme is lying.
 
I suspect they have a limited data base, as I also got Stephen King for my mid-life crisis novel and Agatha Christie for a contemporary crime thriller.
 
A young Hunter S. Thompson once sat down and typed out the entirety of his favourite novel, For Whom The Bell Tolls, in order to learn how to write fiction. Writing a spoof has to be an easier way of achieving the same thing.
