I have been invited to go to Shenzen in September after a job in HK, which I know and love. Really intrigued: fishing village to hi-tech mega city in about 30 years.
I love this. The area around Boudhanath Stupa was already built up when I was there in the 1990's though there were none of the highrises to the right of the picture. My friend Tiratha took me round it and I remember the crowds scattering when a rabid dog passed through.
On a related note here are some photos of Garuda in Durbar Square. The first two are mine and the other is from the New York Post after the 2016 earthquake. I couldn't find a contemporary picture.
