Or hail, as he comments at the end of the article. And I have a suspicion that the Jupiter version of hail might not be something you'd want to be in the middle of :D

Or the lightning that tends to accompany hailstorms. Jovian lightning strikes are so powerful that the radio noise from an individual one can be detected from Earth.

In this respect, Saturn is actually worse. Saturnian lightning bolts can be a million times stronger than the ones on Earth. This means that a Saturn lightning bolt can be equivalent to something like a megaton bomb. :eek:
