As LulzSec threatened earlier this week, it has attacked Bethesda with a hacking operation. Actually, this happened a couple of months back, but the online hacking group has only just announced the details on its Twitter feed.
LulzSec tweeted: “Bethesda, we broke into your site over two months ago. We’ve had all of your Brink users for weeks. Please fix your junk, thanks!”
However, they also posted: “We’re going to release lots of Bethesda/ZeniMax data today – however we might not release their 200,000+ users as we love Call of Cthulhu.”
And a few hours later they did release source code and database passwords, although as promised not the user details of the players of sci-fi shooter Brink.
Some have rather unkindly suggested that the most startling piece of news here is that Brink has 200,000 plus users. Although the game has sold pretty steadily in the UK at least, maintaining a top ten position in the charts since release.
LulzSec members also admitted they were looking forward to Skyrim, and wouldn’t want to mess with the November release date by causing any further havoc for Bethesda.
