aSoIaF Trivia Game

Thanks, Cul.

Yes, Brienne (Cheek) and Arys (Head). It's your turn, tsw.

Imp's turn...

I didn't get all of them and i've been putting up a lotg lately. I'll pass to anyone that wants to put up a question, if nothing appears by tonight I'll think of one. Dafne is due back soon, that would be perfect.

Hey guys, first time poster here, hope you don't mind if I jump right in.

During one of the opening scenes in AGOT, Robert tells Ned that he plans to have Robert Arryn fostered away from the Eyrie to remove him from his mother's influence. Where would he have been fostered, and under whose wardship?

Futhermore, later on one of the POV characters finds out that it was not this person and place at all, but a different location and different person. Where and under who was Robert actually going to be fostered at?

Originally it was Casterly Rock, and with Tywin Lannister, I believe. Or was that second? Actually, now I think about it, I'm fairly certain Lysa tells Catelyn that at the Eeyrie later. So was the first then supposed to be Ned and Catelyn at Winterfell?

Ser Bounds, Welcome! We (well, I think I speak for all of us) appreciate people jumping right in. I do hope you've read up through AFFC... lots of surprises here if you have not.

Cul, you're right... little Lord Robert was intended by King Robert to be fostered out to Lord Tywin at Casterly Rock. Later in the story, we find that Jon Arryn had planned to foster young Robert to Stannis on Dragonstone.

Thanks for the welcome Boaz! As a matter of fact I've read ASOIAF a couple of times through now, and am pretty familiar with the series.

Speaking of which, you have the full answer! It was indeed Tywin at Casterly Rock, then Stannis at Dragonstone. I believe it's your question then.

Welcome Ser Bounds. Gald to have you here, and nice start with your question.

You're welcome, SB. Since Cul got the answer and I just sort of added the, uh, addendum, I'll defer to him.

Edit: Actually, if Cul does not post before I go to bed, I'll post one.

Alright... Guess I need some remedial schooling in reading comprehension...

Back by popular demand....

I can think of seventeen named animals (pet names, not species). Please give me two named animals for the following... Cat, Direwolf, Dog, Dragon, and Horse.

Direwolf: Nymeria and Ghost.

Cat: Drawing a blank. There was that one named after the dragon in the Red Keep, little Rhaenys's kitten. And Arya, of course, Cat of the Canals.

Dog: Dog, and Sandor.

Dragon: Drogon and... something Valyrian.

Horse: Thunder and 'her silver'.

Major fail...

Hmmmm, I've probably bitten off more than I can chew here... My brain does not possess an exhaustive list of ASOIAF animals.

Cul, You have two Direwolves, a Dog, and a Dragon. I don't remember a horse named Thunder... but since your reply on Horse seems confident, I doubt my memory.

I'm looking for animals, not people with animal names. I don't want Cat, Cat of the Canals, Weasel, Aurochs, Strongboar, Sandsnake, Red Viper, or Crow's Eye. I want Ghost, Nymeria, Dog, and Drogon.

Keep it up... you can do it!

I'm off to sleep.

Okay, upon further thought:

Dany named one of her dragons for Viserys, so possibly Viseron or Visyron or Viseryon? But in any case, I believe Aegon's Black Dread was called Baelerion, or Baeleron, and that's who Rhaenys's kitten was named after, so there's a dragon and a cat. I'm still shy one cat, though. And a dog.

As for horses - Thunder is Ser Duncan the Tall's warhorse. Did I get a point for Dany's silver? If not, Dunk had another horse called Chestnut, or possibly Sweetfoot, or maybe he had both...

I thought there was a black horse named "stranger" too, but as i'm reading a translation there might be a mix-up as far as names go. But I thought it was the name of Sandor's horse, back in the monastery.

I think you're right, cornelius.

Stranger was definitely Sandor's horse's name

So that leaves one cat now? The only cat that's coming to mind at the moment is the one that Syrio talked about to Arya when telling how he was named first sowrd, but that one wasn't named.
