Algae as fuel sounds like a great idea Moth! There's plenty of it worldwide.

I'm not sure if I missed something in the article but there was nothing about emissions from it, if used as fuel.

The idea might sound like it holds promise but I doubt it would ever catch on at any time that matters. People are just as shortsided now as they were back then, if not more so.....at least, here in the U.S. they are, and that's why we let Bush ruin the country's economy, it's why there's a record on foreclosure, and so much more.....

Actually I mentioned this fact on a global warming thread months ago. In Arizonia they are testing the use of algae to eliminate powerplant emissions which under ideal conditions are H20 and CO2. The algae live off the CO2 and water and reproduce. Since the algae is composed of hydrocarbons, it can be coverted to biodiesel and burned.

...and actually they looked into this once before and then abandoned it for some reason never mentioned.

Money.

Gas (petrol) is cheap. Ethanol is expensive. I'm willing to quess that biodiesel from algae is even more expensive.
