How long will he live? (David Eddings)

the feeling I got was that yes, people exercising the will and word stopped aging at the age they felt was appropriate for them. Durnik IS officially Beldurnik, as he was proclaimed a disciple of Aldur. and like Garion, he is unlikely to wander the Earth using his FULL name. Naughty? more often than not, but it was just too tempting to voice an opinion.

at no point is Durnik addressed as Beldurnik. Yes he is Aldur's newest disciple, but he is never called Beldurnik by Aldur himself, so he is not Beldurnik at all. it may be suggested, but cannot be confirmed.
Garion goes around the world using that name as thats the one he know best. He is also NOT a disciple of Aldur either. He just happens to be called Belgarion as thats what Necessity decided his name should be - Ildera mentions it to Polgara while she's pregnant that she dreamt that he'd be called Garion, but that his full name would be Belgarion.

As to the suggestion that many of the descendants of Beldaran and Riva Iron-Grip possessed talent... theres a difference between having talent and Using it. Those who use it gain the extended life-spans, those who don't - as Belgarath mentions - grow old and die without ever utilising their powers.
