next Shannara trilogy will be the final one

http://sf-fantasy.suvudu.com/2014/01/2014-letter-to-the-fans-by-terry-brooks.html Really loved the Shannara books from Sword through Voyage and Genesis. But the series has woefully stagnated, so glad to see Brooks end it gracefully and start something new.

    Kvothe - chosen one?

Some criticize Rothfuss for making Kvothe a paragon of perfection. But Rothfuss could be using the unreliable narrator to let Kvothe boast and grossly exaggerate, and the final book might switch narrators to expose Kvothe as nowhere near perfect (?).

Something is coming to the old Terry Brooks forum!

No. That's just a default webpage, only shown because the forum was removed. Same thing for abc.terrybrooks.net or xyz.terrybrooks.net

The Man In The High Castle: Not Impressed

The Man in the High Castle, it was well-written and he created the alternative America very well. But it had no point. Like PKD hit a page limit and tried to drop an ending which wasn't no ending at all.

    Would you recommend David Eddings?

Eddings found a niche in light fantasy. Yes, it's dull and cliched, but that's why it's easy to read, plus it has bits of humor.

    Armageddon's Children

Genesis was fantastic, a lot better than I expected. Genesis was written in the contemporary style of Word/Void, not the classic Shannara. The merging of the two worlds worked fine, a story in itself. Just wish Genesis would have been published before Sword because Sword sort of spoils it but...

    The Heritage of Shannara!

Heritage is a mixed bag of 4 mostly independent books. I recommend any other trilogy (not Witch Wraith which is the worst, hands down). Scions was a bad retread, Shea/Flick were renamed Par/Coll. Druid, some parts were awesome, some were silly. Elf Queen was a lot better than expected...

    The word and the void

IMO, Word/Void is the best that Brooks has ever written, perhaps the best in urban fantasy. Along with Elfstones, he has redeemed himself by proving he can write something original.

    Shannara: what is it about?

The Sword of Shannara is the worst case of plagiarization I've ever noticed. The first part of Sword has a gross amount of specific plot points/elements taken directly from LOTR. Imagine if Tolkien had handed Brooks an outline/draft and told Brooks to rewrite it in his own prose. The book...

The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara

Voyage is the best Shannara trilogy IMO. It managed to keep my interest in Shannara because it went to new places outside the Four Lands.

    Opinions about the Shannara Series

It pains to me say this. Terry Brooks was once my favorite author. But I've stopped reading his books. In the 80s, the next Shannara book was a thrill. Back then, it was all new, and Terry was arguably the best of the new fantasy writers. But now, every Shannara book has repeated the same...

    Terry brooks official forum closed

The Terry Brooks forum had been declining for years, and had degenerated into a off-topic cess pool no new reader would want to join. reddit has a new Terry Brooks subreddit but it was dead from the start, sadly. I doubt social media was a major factor in killing it. What killed it was simply...
