The outstanding, creative and wide-ranging children's author Peter Dickinson has died aged 88.

He was deeply influential to me, not least with his wonderful debut - inspired by a vivid dream - The Weathermonger, which is one of very few books I regularly re-read.

A sad loss to literature, but a wonderful back catalogue of work for all to admire and delve into. RIP Peter Dickinson.

I'm sad to hear it. He was a wonderful author. I love The Blue Hawk, and lots of his other books (The Devil's Children is wonderful too).

He was married to Robin McKinley.
