Kalypso Media has shipped DarkStar One: Broken Alliance off to shops around the UK.

This Xbox 360 space combat and adventure game boasts a large universe of some 330 solar systems, populated by six different alien races, each with their own technology, weapons and moves.

Tactical moves that is, not dance ones. Although the short blue fellows with the flat heads can probably bust out some pretty mean break-dancing chops.

Upon encountering these aliens, it’s up to the player whether he or she wants to gun them down and steal their stuff, or play nice and trade for it.

Fast and furious first-person space combat is promised, as well as a storyline which involves love and betrayal (they go together like a horse and carriage).

The DarkStar One is your ship, for which there are a massive amount of customisation options. Weapons, shields, engines, in-cockpit air fresheners, there are over 200 components to pick and choose from.

Depending on what play-style you’ve adopted, you can fine-tune your craft to be a bristling death machine, a speedy hit and run fighter, a big trading cruiser, or whatever you fancy.

Kalypso says that Broken Alliance also boasts tasty graphics, over 90 minutes of musical score in 5.1 surround, and 40 minutes of cut-scenes to move the plot along.

If you want a slice of this space faring action, the recommended retail is £44.99.
