I call these "rumors" because I've spent only about the last 45 seconds looking into these. Any thoughts on the below? Any you'd like to see in particular happen?

- Live action Akira movie
- Live action Robotech/Macross movie
- A CGI Battle Angel directed by James Cameron

Battletech and Macross would be cool.

I had thought live-action Akira was dead, but apparently it's still an ongoing project, cast with too-old western actors, though no one seems sure when shooting might start. Hopefully the kind of shooting that will put it out of its misery.

Agreed, HB. No one should ever go anywhere near ANY type of re-do of Akira. It is too special to ever try to replace, or enhance.

Sorry Chris, I should have mentioned that I appreciate the thread. I am not a huge Cameron fan though, so I'm not sure I'd be interested in such a film by him. What do you think? Would you guess he could do justice to Battle Angel? I so appreciate a lot of these creations in their original forms, so it would have to be something very special to really excite me. (Oy, the Dragonball live-action film from a few years ago was amazingly bad!:))

I don't want them to make Akira into a re imagined classic .

Thanks Cat. I think that when a live action/CGI movie is made from video games or anime - Hollywood has a few choices. One, they appeal to the fans and make it as true as possible to the source while running the risk of creating a niche group. Two, they Hollywood-it-up in an attempt to maximize audience and profit and sort of poop on the fans (i.e. what Hare said about putting mainstream US actors in a movie known to take place in Japan. With Japanese people).

However, I am a Cameron fan, and he's been known to be a bit of a perfectionist. I would hope that this perfectionism would extend to creating Battle Angel and do Gally justice!

Liked the live action Space Battleship Yamato.:)

Had to post this link, even though its a dead-end...

Wow, I actually wanted to see that movie rather than run screaming from it. If someone could make that into a full-length film, but not balls it up, I'd believe there was a God.

I do not know much about any of the manga/anime you mentioned, but off the top of my head I can't think of a anime/manga to live-action that went well. Can anyone think of one?
