Mary Sue test...

Does that test constitute a complete module of an A-level, by any chance?

;):)

I've taken that one before, it's a really good test.

Scored an impressive 6 for a character I was really worried about.

According to that, my main character "could probably take a little spicing up", so I've made him a vampire and given him four foreign languages. And naturally purple hair.

Mine too (I got 6, like thatollie). I made her an exiled amnesiac princess called Barbie-Wonderful who can fly.

My character is already a blind girl who can shoot (because she has psychic powers that make it so), does she really need any more spice.

I'm quite skeptical of this test. When ever you put anything that makes the character interesting in part 1 it goes up. A lot of the things in part 5 (the de-suifiers) are pretty common in a lot of characters and do not make them unique. Such as:

1. Use character's weaknesses as a plot device
10. Debilitating phobia that does not mysteriously disappear at a crucial moment.
12.Bad past with parents (at least with troubled characters)
14. Overcomes tough problem that seemed hopeless, difficult and/or took a long time.
15. Character doubts they do the right thing (even though they usually did the right thing)
23. Vampire part
22. Act in strange ways

It also doesn't take into account the uniqueness of the combinations of traits the can make characters interesting or not.

I'm worried.

I applied the test for all four of my main characters (in parallel) and got a

5.

Apparently I need to spice them up.

Hmmm. Don;t know about this test. I did my best with my main character and she scored a 17, which is borderline for needing a bit of spicing up.

Sure, this little test gave me a few moments to think about my main character, but it really didn't feel that satisfying. :(

I also got six.

Princess Barbie-Wonderful sounds like she'd be a perfect match for my main character, Hex. Prince Absolutely Super-Sexy.

I'm pretty sure my little guy (or really, all three of them together) only scored so low because (1) they are kids, so all the sex questions don't apply, and (2) at least one of them is modeled after my son, but not me, so those questions don't technically apply either.

So, did you check the question about naming your kids after the character?

I scored 13 for Space Captain Smith. I think I would have scored much lower had I not liked his outfit.

I did this for my main character and got a score of -1, dunno if I should be sad about that or not, hmmm...
