Book Hauls!

From Abebooks, finally got the 6th book in the Spellsinger series (my partner already had books 1-5 on her shelf). I initially thought there were only 6 in the series. But there are later entries in the series.

I recently bought "House of a Thousand Floors" by Jan Weiss, one of the first science fiction novels in Czech. (As I don't understand Czech, I got a German translation.) It's about a man who suddenly wakes up in an inescapable building which is being ruled by a dictator and it deals with themes of totalitarianism, mass surveillance etc, and all of that written in 1929. I'm looking forward to reading it!

Today's haul, from two different shops. The Dickens bio and the Pasternak were 10p each from a St Ts charity shop. Absolute bargain!
The Ellis Peters book is a kind of Cadfael Begins book (a set of 3 stories)
Not read her yet but I got one of them for my birthday a while ago.

I'd have had those Ballards! No such luck in our oxfam shop

I succumbed and bought these yesterday from the Stableford collection in my local Oxfam bookshop. VF Berkeley Medallion US first editions ( as far as I know) from 1966, 1971 respectively.
Interesting to note that the contents of this edition of Vermilion Sands are missing a story The Singing Statues (1962) found in my well-thumbed 1985 UK edition.

You get books from the library for free? They sell them in our libraries
They sell them here too, newer ones, not sure if they’re multiple copies or what, but they also have freebie shelves downstairs where people take books they don’t want anymore and drop them off.

Something a little different. Space 1999 Armageddon Engine by James Swallow.
