I rate this trilogy as being in my top five favourite reads of all time. In the words of Bernard Cornwell, 'I have to confess that of all the books I have written these three are my favourites.' Quite a statement when you consider the volume of books this man has wrote.

Bernard Cornwell always features on George RR Martin's reading lists, and I am sure he would admit that Cornwell was a huge influence on his Song of Fire and Ice series.

I love Arthurian legend, and for me this is the greatest version of the Arthurian saga. What are your thoughts?

Unsuprisingly, I concur wholeheartedly with you here, Lace. These are the books that got me onto fantasy, though I don't thing I've ever found their equal in either genre. Martin does come close, I must say, but these books changed me. I still get shivers just thinking about them....

I love Arthurian legend (hence user name). I'm also a big fan of the Sharp series. The Warlord trilogy are just perfect. Best Lancelot ever.
