Can you help me find this book? ( - Moke)

Please help me find out who wrote this book - I remember reading it, and it making a big impression on me as a kid, but it was a bit - I was too young to really appreciate it.


It was about a guy who came back to earth (it's set in the nearish future) and got hastled by an advert (very PKD) and became addicted to the (thinly disguised) "Moke" soft drink - ended up in a boot camp rehab clinic....

As I grew up, I discovered and became a big fan of Dick, and despite collecting a fair no. of his work, have never heard of this as one of his - and I've always wondered who's book it was, and what it was called.

sounds like something i read recently. it was by alan dean foster. title eludes me, but i remember the ad.

It sounds a bit like Gladiator at Law by Pohl and Kornbluth. It was kind of a satire on big business and advertising dressed up as sci-fi. It also sounds a bit like something by Robert Sheckley, but can't remember what.

I know I've read it, the Moke rings a bell!

i think i know the book you are talking about.
it is written by frederik pohl. the title is 'the merchants war'. there is one other book 'the space merchants'.
