The track footage looks superb but I hope we're not going to just see Top Gun on four wheels. The aircraft footage was great in that one but, honestly, the actual movie itself is vastly overrated. I'm not a fan. When I hear phrases like 'lone wolf', 'doesn't take orders', 'goes his own way' I suspect Top Gun on wheels is exactly what we're going to get.
We've had some good F1 movies like Grand Prix and Rush and both of these focussed not only on the inherent danger but the tragedies that result from that danger. I doubt we're going to see anything like Jean-Pierre Sarti (Yves Montand) brooding on the deaths of his fellow competitors or Lauda (Daniel Bruhl) overcoming his terrible injuries to get back in the car.
Still, I live in hope.
