Terri Garr passed away on Tuesday, October 29th, 2024 at her home in Los Angeles. She was a brilliant comedian on script and off the cuff. A professional dancer at an early age she was in numerous Elvis Presley movies. Her performance in the 1968 Star Trek episode, Assignment: Earth with Robert Lansing launched her career in Hollywood. Her eyes could convey more meanings than some actors entire bodies. She was in Mel Brooks Young Frankenstein in 1974 and Steven Spielberg's Close Encounters Of The Third Kind in 1977. Also in Sydney Pollack's Tootsie in 1982. She performed everything from comedy to drama and hosted Saturday Night Live three times in the 80s.

Oh dear. Terri Garr was very watchable on screen and i always enjoyed her performance. Great timing.

RIP, Terri.

What a pity. I wonder why she didn't do more movies???

From her Wikipedia entry:
In October 2002, Garr confirmed that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. After years of uncertainty and secrecy about her diagnosis, Garr explained her reasons for deciding to go public: "I'm telling my story for the first time so I can help people. I can help people know they aren't alone and tell them there are reasons to be optimistic because, today, treatment options are available."

In interviews, Garr said that she first started noticing symptoms while she was in New York filming Tootsie around 1982.
