Hi… this is driving me mad, hope someone can help. My memories are very vague!
Looking for a novel, think it is partially about uploading of consciousness.
Partially remembered plot aspects:
A genius TV/movie director who makes a film from a cat’s perspective in college, goes on to become a media mogul who owns satellites.
An alien life consciousness which is collected from a puddle by a mars probe and is transmitted to earth by a satellite, think it becomes part of a supercomputer chip created and used by the media mogul in his satellites.
Think the climax of the story is on a large ocean going ship on which the media mogul has his base of operations, the alien life form is in a tank on the ship.
Not much to go on I know, but hopefully someone recognises some of the above!
