Welcome back Daryl. He finds himself stranded in France, is injured and and taking in by a group of nuns. They want him to escort a young boy who they see as the new messiah. Daryl declines and leaves but witnesses a group of vehicles descending on the convent. He goes back to assist, the majority of the nuns are killed protecting the young boy and Daryl now agrees to take the boy.
We find out Daryl was on a ship and destroyed/ released some specimens before going overboard into the sea and presumed dead.
The people who the specimens belong to want revenge or proof he is dead.
We have Daryl stranded in a land he doesn't know, the protector of a young boy and a couple of nuns, being hunted by two powerful enemies.
This is much better that The Ones Who Live.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the first two episodes. It feels fresh, new and Daryl was always a favourite.

I just watched the first episode. Very good and a quite different story (when I thought TWD had become quite repetitive.) And I agree, Daryl Dixon was always the most interesting of the characters (and a fan favourite, especially among the ladies.) I haven't yet seen The Ones Who Live but the premise of visiting New York City doesn't sound that interesting. It looks like all the six episodes of season one of this have been dropped together in the UK, so I'll be watching them ASAP.

In Ep. 1 Daryl gets an infection on is arm from a "Burner". At the end of The World Beyond the dead scientist at the CRM becomes a faster, stronger and more aggressive kind of zombie while Dr. Edwin Jenner discusses the overseas variants in a video message in the background. The "Burner" must be one of these.

A little late but here is the synopsis (I'm splitting up into episodes:

Daryl Dixon washes ashore in France and sets out to return to America. He suffers an arm wound upon encountering a new walker variant called "burners". Near Marseille, Daryl encounters Maribelle and her grandfather Guillaume. Henri and Michel, soldiers from a paramilitary group called Pouvoir des Vivants (Power of the Living), attack them and are killed before Maribelle and Guillaume rob Daryl and flee. The pair are caught by Michel's brother Codron, who kills Guillaume and seeks revenge on Daryl on the assumption he killed Michel. Isabelle, a nun for the Union de L'Espoir (Union of Hope), finds Daryl and takes him to her abbey for treatment. She introduces Daryl to Laurent, a young boy the Union believes is the Messiah destined to revive humanity; she believes Daryl is the messenger who must deliver Laurent to the Union contingent in Paris. He rejects the idea and leaves. Codron's men attack the abbey, killing most of the nuns, but Daryl returns and helps to fend off the assailants. Daryl agrees to help in exchange for Isabelle leading him to Le Havre. It's revealed that a Pouvoir ship transporting walker test subjects took Daryl from America, but he instigated a mutiny, destroyed their research and escaped. Genet, the leader of Pouvoir, orders that Daryl be found.

@Dave The Ones Who Live is Michonne and Rick reuniting, honestly feel this one has been made to appease the fans.
Dead City is set in New York with Maggie and Negan searching for Maggie's son, hopefully SKy are going to show this in UK.

Thanks, I was confused obviously. I'm not sure if I'll watch all of these different spin-offs, but this series is excellent and everyone who watched TWD or FTWD and got bored with it, should come back and watch this. I also like the World Beyond. I hope Sky and NOW TV do show them all.

I got around to watching some episodes, and was glad to see episode 1 had a different theme from the usual. Good start.
