May / June 100 Word Anonymous Challenge 2024 Discussion

I will be posting the Challenge today. I'm just waiting for a bit of clarification about the genre, and we'll be set to go.

Only a few days left for submissions. The Challenge closes Friday night at 11:59 GMT.

I ended up voting for:

Black Spot -Unheeded

Silver -True nature breaks out through an animal's eyes

But could easily have voted for:

An Opportunity Onboard -Some experience necessary

Captain Kidd in Fiddler's Green -What you reap...

Figurehead -Never trust a (half)robot

New Commodity -Cook on day of purchase

Dead air -I was listening to that, pesky Arres Corporation

Nice mix of stories, thought the poem worked really well with the theme. Thanks all for all them, and to @elvet for all the behind the screens work. And fair play @paranoid marvin for coming up with a gyearrreat theme for us to work with (y)

Thanks, I like all things piratey (Monkey Island, Treasure Island etc) so I really enjoyed reading the entries this month. Altbough I liked reading tbem, I struggled to comevup with many of my own.

Brothers Revenge (what a great nane for pirate ship) and Dead Air got my vote, but there were lots of others that were great.

What a fun challenge this was! An inspired topic from @paranoid marvin gave lots of fodder for a great selection of stories.

Short list:
Silver
Illegally downloaded Galactic Code
Welcome Aboard
Private Ear, agent of the WIPO
Nibblecoin
Beware of Pink
Black Spot
The Rascals of Palossis

Voted for:
Dead Air - liked the different take on pirates
Yurofrighter - shades of Larry, Curly and Moe. Loved it!

And our winner is... PARANOID MARVIN!!!!
for Black Spot

Well done @paranoid marvin -no slapstick dialogue! I'd have never guessed that was your work. Fair play, knew it was a winner when I read it.

Looking forward to the next theme, this one was class (y)

Thanks everyone. Judging by the quality of the entries this month, I wondered if I'd manage any votes.

At heart I love writing poetry (or at least my version of it). But I go through stages - sometimes months - when I struggle to sling two meaningful rhyming couplets together. Hopefully I'm back in a situation where that isn't the case.

I really appreciate the kind words regarding my entries and the theme I set. Most of all though huge thanks to elvet for ensuring that we have a Challenge to entry.
