A Beaver Dam in Yorkshire - article in New Civil Engineer

Ah the noble beaver! Its why they join our late Regent on our 5 cent coins. :giggle: Tough, industrious, always preparing for the future, and graceful (when not on land of course). We have them in our pond. Every spring they arrive with a vengeance. No tree is safe! I've made peace by putting wire around my 'keepsies' trees otherwise the rest of the trees are fair game.

All that said, they are in my opinion, to be accommodated where possible since they seem to be responsible for bringing back a sort of ecological homeostasis where they are reintroduced. Very 'damming' evidence that beaver's methods are really within the natural order of things!
