I think in Britain, the greatest sitcom has to be Only Fools and Horses.
It was relentlessly funny, and charming for 11 years.
All the characters were diamonds.
So many of its catch-phrases passed into everyday use in British English. Most noticeably Luvly Jubbly and You plonker, Rodney.
There were jokes that you could see for years without ever noticing them that suddenly became clear; like the fact that Trotter's Independent Trading, which was written on the van ended up as TITCO

It didn't start to get bad after so many series, and as Del-Boy would have said, it's finishing story was a belter, which rounded off the tale of the Trotters perfectly.

Seinfeld a series about a Bunch of chatter who never grown and never leaned from their mistakes . The Comedy the wiring and the acting were all amazing. A show about nothing and managed to say on the air from 1989 to 1998 . Pretty impressive for a show about nothing .

I've seen a lot of comedy. I think the best one is Black Adder. Mostly due to the incredibly moving ending of Black Adder Goes Fourth.

The Office (both the original and the US version)
Parks and Recreation
It's Always Sunny In Philidelphia
30 Rock
The Phil Silvers Show.

The Dick Van Dyke Show A sitcom about comedy writers . it had a marvelous t cast and Carls Reiner who was it created the show and had a reoccurring role as Dick's Boss Alan Brady . The show ran from 1961 to 1966 and, it went out on top.

And by extension, Frazier. (Probably my favourite, actually. Incredible writing.)

If it can be called a sitcom. Could deliver physical gags, as well as great one-liners and word-play. And then be heartbreakingly sad the next moment.
Also Yes [Prime] Minister
I don't think dialogue from Bernard Woolley or Sir Humphry gets any better and the there are the moment when Jim Hacker starts channelling Winston Churchill.

I remember Benson being funny. Soap was hilarious, but I only saw a few episodes. I remember something called WKRP in Cincinnati being funny, but that was a long time ago.

When I worked shifts, there would always be a sitcom in the early afternoon. Just Shoot Me was pretty funny. There were others, such as Rules of Engagement that I also enjoyed. A bit predictable, perhaps.

The earlier series of Last of the Summer Wine. The last few series were getting pretty dire.
The Addams Family - It might be 60 years old but still makes me laugh.
