I've just read John Lymington's "The Screaming Face", previously read Allan W Eckert's "The Hab Theory".

A third book posits the world tips over because of imbalance caused by oil extracted being replaced by heavier seawater.
The title might include the word "apple".

Can anyone identify it please?

Crude oil is lighter than seawater?? Welll... maybe (spilled oil forms a slick on the surface). Maybe get some more earthquakes...

Not maybe. But it's the book title I want, that uses the comparitive mass concept.

Hmmm. Possibly Don’t Pick the Flowers (aka Denver is Missing) by DF Jones (1971). Not a perfect match but drilling and seawater do cause a world-wide calamity that threatens all mankind.
