What Would Movie Audiences of the 1930's and 40s have made of the Indiana Jones films?

They would loved the Sword fight scene that didn't happe in which Indie takes out his gun and shots the the guy with the sword. They would not have seen that one coming.:D
 
They would absolutely love movie musical score by John William .

For the audiences of that era, I think of them style of film making and camera work, editing and look of the film would probably be a bit of shock to them because films of that era looked and sound very different from what we have now. Totally different style.
